The advancement in more than cinematography cuts across different segments, from cameras, software tools, streaming platforms, and many more.

Cinematography starts with the camera, over the past decade, technological innovations have significantly enhanced camera capabilities, making high-quality filmmaking more accessible than ever.

Software tools have become indispensable in content creation, providing powerful ways to edit, enhance, and distribute visual content.

Technology platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, and Vimeo have modified how this material is shared and monetized.

They offer creators Global reach and opportunities for monetization through ads subscriptions and sponsorships, the rise of live streaming and direct-to-audience platforms has further expanded the possibilities for Content creators.

Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook have become essential tools for Content distribution, they enable creators to build audiences and engage with viewers directly, often leading to viral success and new opportunities for brand Partnerships, looking ahead Several trends are poised to shape the future of these Fields, AI will likely play an even bigger role in automation from intelligent editing tools to real-time VFX generation, AI could also enhance personalization, allowing for Content that adapt to individual viewer preferences.

For creators staying abreast of these changes is crucial to harnessing the full potential of modern tools and delivering compelling Innovative content.

Dorcas Yakubu Zallah of Trustv is with Victor Audu a content creator and a cinematographer.

Tell us briefly more about content creation in Nigeria, and where it stands currently.

According to content creator and cinematographer, Victor Audu said that content Creation in Nigeria is good, a lot is happening now, and many creators can create content now because it’s easier to do it.

These days, we can do it with our mobile phones, so almost everybody wants to be a content creator because it’s the cool thing right now, the trends are coming where people are, in terms of different content Styles, like fashion lifestyle, and others, and it’s been going well right now in Nigeria, as a content creator and videographer, I’m excited to see what comes next.

How has technology impacted content creation and cinematography?

Victor says that technology has impacted content creation and cinematography in many ways, in terms of gadgets helping us to create better visuals. And we have AI, we have virtual reality(VR), and other tools that help us creators, create content easily and specifically on VR because as technology advances, consumers’ experiences and engagement will improve because it will be available beyond our mobile device screens, the possibilities for a viewer experience in terms of engagement and content will increase with the advancement of technology.

So in terms of gadgets, they have become more efficient and better in that situation and also some tools have helped content creation and cinematography do it better.

Some of these developments in technology, like artificial intelligence (AI), where you can just write letters and it will provide pictures, don’t you think they pose a threat to your career?

According to Audu, If you see it right now as a threat, we will be taken off the market, this is because artificial intelligence (AI) is there to assist us; the advancement of technology is primarily due to its ability to make our lives easier.

I don’t regard AI as a threat, but as a tool to help me do my job more efficiently and with greater structure. If you can’t work with it, it won’t be of any real value to us.

I’m happy with the switch to digital as it was more manual in the past, but, if you’re the type who gets annoyed with it, and gets scared of it, I don’t think that creator might last in the game, So you should use it to your advantage, use it more efficiently, and complete the work more quickly, use it for your advantages.

Captions are now also auto-generated before people were paid for them, so what can you say about this?

Victor maintains that they’re still going to pay people because some people are not ready to do it. To do the Auto captions helps us, but is good for people to also understand that it is an AI, it’s not perfect yet, it’s still being tested, it’s still being updated and with time, so even though we have all captions, you still have to check it out, because it’s a robot. It’s not going to say everything perfectly for you. We also have different ways of pronouncing English, and English is different for some people, I can go on Siri and tell Siri something, but they might not, Siri might not recognize well, so even if we have something that can do that for us That alone, you still have to double-check it, because they’re bound to make mistakes.

How has editing software like Adobe Editors influenced the post-production process?

According to Victor, software like Adobe Premier Pro and DaVinci Resolve 19 has influenced it.

It makes the workflow better, compared to those powerhouses to easier software like capcuts, VN video editor, or all those mobile free software, those apps can help you to create content quickly and help it efficiently. But when you have powerhouses like Adobe Premier Pro or DaVinci Resolve, this software can do it for you fast. There, things are better organized, and there’s better workflow.

There’s more room to play with, you can edit films like Hollywood using Davinci Resolve, and most editors use DaVinci to color-grade videos, you can’t get the exact look when you’re using software like CapCuts or other mobile software.

Software like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve paves the way in the editing workflow because you can organize your files and color grade them to give them good looks, and you have more choices while using that software.

Why Content Creation And Cinematography?

It was simply an experiment that I wanted to try out; it wasn’t a passion, I was just curious to see whether I would be good, I just started using my phone to shoot videos while learning, and after a while, it started to become fun. And today it’s already about four years later.

As a full-time position, it’s great, but I don’t think the work never ends; it’s never like you leave the office and your workday is done. After shooting, you still need to edit and come up with new ideas; the cycle never ends.

And I’m happy to be in this position now, but it was just a pastime initially. Eventually, I kept learning more, and that’s how I learned how to monetize and make money from it.
